Spiritual Warrior

Spiritual Warrior

It is my prayer that with the exit of the current administration in January, there may be an opportunity for a spiritual awakening in this country. I believe many Christians have been AWOL for too long, and instead of being spiritual warriors many have become spiritual wimps.

As Christians we have been intimidated into silence and told we don’t have a place at the table.  There are far too many Christian pastors and teachers who have quit teaching from the bible, and are now teaching a politically correct doctrine of inclusion, and embracing many behaviors which are contrary to scripture.  Unfortunately many of us have become sheeple led astray by those false teachers and preachers.

So, are you sick and tired of living or seeing others live an apathetic Christian life?   Are you tired of going to church for a spiritual pick me up only to return to business as usual for the rest of the week?  Are you ready to step up and do something about it?  Are you ready to become the spiritual warrior that Christ has called us to be?  Let me be clear, unless we step up and start representing our LORD as he expects, he will spew us out for being lukewarm.

The Lukewarm Church

Revelation 3:14-17

14 “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans[a] write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot,[b] I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked—

So if you are sick and tired of the way our country has been going and the absolute ridiculous PC culture that has shut up Christians from speaking God’s words, it’s time to put on the armor take you place as a spiritual warrior.

Becoming a Spiritual Warrior

First, being a Spiritual Warrior isn’t for the faint of heart. To be a Spiritual Warrior, you must be solid in your walk. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6, tells us what we’re up against, and what we need to be doing.

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 3

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Some of the traits or aspects of character that are essential to being a Spiritual Warrior are:

Awareness

Courage

Discipline

Commitment

Compassion

Love

A Spiritual Warrior is always aware of his or her surroundings. They are aware of the tricks of the adversary, and are on guard against them. Our adversary never levels a frontal assault, but attacks our minds and hearts through situations, other people; and all the sensory stimuli around us.

Also a Spiritual Warrior knows the scriptures, and is able to see what kind of person someone is by their fruits. They are also aware of their own personal weaknesses, and stay on guard to not let those weaknesses be attacked.

Next, a Spiritual Warrior must have courage, and the only way to have the courage needed for standing against our advisory, is to fully lean on Jesus Christ. Man may have courage to stand against another man, but to stand against spiritual attacks takes God’s strength and courage.

The Spiritual Warrior must also be disciplined. They must read the word regularly and know what’s in the scriptures. They live their lives with a heart of joy and gratitude, as well as, in a spirit of continuous prayer. They also go through their day seeking to do good whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Qualities of a Spiritual Warrior

Commitment is something the Spiritual Warrior lives by as well. They are committed to the service of God, and are willing to lay down their life in God’s service if need be. They may be blindsided from time to time, but they quickly recover and get back to God’s business. They are unwavering in their faith and commitment, and will stand for God until the end.

The Spiritual Warrior must also have compassion. They must be strong in spirit and character, but they must also be gentle and humble. The Spiritual Warrior should be able to bring strength to those who are afraid, and be able to weep with those who weep. The Spiritual Warrior must have a heart for people, and must be willing to put others first.

Most importantly, the Spiritual Warrior must have love. There is no character trait or power that is greater than love. This is the kind of love that is given no matter what. This love is a commitment to God that you will stand in the gap for anyone you have an opportunity to help.

It’s giving without any concern for self. It’s the kind of love that Jesus Christ has for all of us, that although we are sinners, He laid down His life for us. As unworthy as we are, He loves us anyway. That is the example we’re given to follow.

Being a Spiritual Warrior is about living for and serving God and His people. It is something that we cannot do on our own; we need God’s help in this battle.

So like all good soldiers, we must put on our uniform and take up our weapons. The weapons we use as Spiritual Warriors though are not the same weapons that man uses.

Putting on the Armor

Ephesians 6:10-18 10

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

As I said, being a Spiritual Warrior is not for the faint of heart. It’s a commitment to a way of life that is often more difficult. When you become a Spiritual Warrior, you leave behind a life of self-serving and self-gratification. When you make this commitment, your life is no longer your own, but belong to Christ.

So let me ask you again, do you have what it takes to be a Spiritual Warrior, and are you up to the challenge?

Please let me know what you think!
